At Tipton Studio, LLC, we’ve long recognized the power of AI to amplify creativity, sharpen strategy, and streamline operations. From content development to audience analysis, we’ve integrated AI into our core offerings to help our clients move faster and with greater clarity. But great leadership means never standing still. That’s why we’re continuing to deepen our understanding—especially in how AI is shaping the future of UX research.
On May 15, I attended “Using AI to Drive Efficiency and Impact in UX Research,” a virtual panel hosted by Raymond Lee and the UX Researchers’ Guild. This session featured research and operations leaders from Autodesk—Christen Penny, Mark Uttley, and Manuela Escala—sharing their journey of integrating AI into enterprise-level UX research workflows.
What drew me to this session was more than curiosity—it was alignment. At Tipton Studio, we’re not new to AI. We’ve been leveraging it to design communications strategies, visualize concepts, and deliver insights that drive measurable impact. But UX research is a space where we see untapped potential—not just for ourselves, but for our clients.
The Autodesk team shared actionable insights across four key dimensions:
• Strategic Vision & Leadership – How research leaders shape tool selection and team adoption
• Operational Priorities – Building workflows that integrate AI with intention and structure
• Day-to-Day Execution – Real tools being used to streamline data synthesis and user understanding
• Lessons Learned – The real-world challenges of AI adoption and how they overcame them
What stood out most? The balance between experimentation and structure. AI doesn’t replace human insight—it expands what’s possible when we apply our expertise with precision and purpose. That’s a philosophy we’ve lived by at Tipton Studio, and one we’re excited to continue refining through new use cases in research and design.
As we grow our AI capabilities, sessions like these remind us that innovation isn’t just about knowing what to do—it’s about listening, adapting, and leading with vision.
To the UX Researchers’ Guild and Autodesk team—thank you for sharing your roadmap. You’ve inspired us to take our next step forward with even more clarity.
